The Situation is Extremely Dangerous, We Are Almost in a Full-Scale War: Borrell

The EU's High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, has described the escalating situation in Lebanon as extremely dangerous and close to a "full-scale war." This was reported by Reuters.

"The situation is highly dangerous and concerning. I can say that we are almost in a full-scale war," the head of European diplomacy stated at a press conference in New York, noting the increasing intensity of attacks and the rise in casualties.

The situation in the Middle East has sharply deteriorated since the infiltration of armed members of the Palestinian Hamas movement from the Gaza Strip into Israeli territory on October 7, 2023, which was accompanied by the murder of residents in border settlements and the capture of 250 hostages. Israel has declared a complete blockade of Gaza and has begun retaliatory strikes on the Gaza Strip and certain regions of Lebanon and Syria, followed by a ground operation in the Palestinian enclave.
