Israeli Chief of Staff: 'We Must Not Give Hezbollah a Break, The Situation Demands Continued Intensive Operations on All Fronts'
The Israel Defense Forces have carried out another targeted strike on the Lebanese capital, Beirut, as reported by the Israeli military. Details of the attack have not been disclosed.
Al Jazeera clarifies that Israeli forces conducted airstrikes on the southern suburbs of Beirut. Prior to this, Israeli Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi stated that the Israel Defense Forces would accelerate their offensive operations. 'We must not give Hezbollah a break. The current situation demands continued intensive operations on all fronts,' he said.
Reuters, citing its sources, reports that the target of Israel's strike on Beirut was one of the commanders of the Shiite movement Hezbollah, whose name has not been revealed. The missile struck a building in the busy Ghobeiry area.
It should be noted that Israel has been carrying out strikes in Lebanese territory for several consecutive days. On September 23, the Israel Defense Forces initiated offensive military operations. Israel has urged Lebanese citizens to evacuate their homes near areas where Hezbollah is allegedly hiding weapons.
According to the latest data from the Lebanese Ministry of Health, at least 558 people have been killed and 1,835 wounded as a result of shelling. Temporary shelters have been set up in at least 89 schools across Lebanon for 26,000 people. Around 500 Lebanese individuals have crossed into Syria to escape the shelling.
