Serob Gasparyan's Defense Team Appeals to Sergey Lavrov and Andrey Belousov
The defense team of Serob Gasparyan, who was detained days ago on charges of usurping power, has issued a statement stating that they have addressed a request to Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, Defense Minister Andrey Belousov, and the Russian Ambassador to Armenia Sergey Kopirkin.
The essence of the issue lies in the claims of the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia that Serob Gasparyan and other individuals underwent special training at one of the Russian military bases, after which they were to carry out a coup in Armenia.
The defense has requested that relevant officials in Russia provide necessary clarifications and has also addressed several other questions and documents, which contain state secrets and, therefore, cannot be disclosed to the public.
We reiterate that the criminal prosecution of Serob Gasparyan is unlawful, and you will soon be convinced of this.
