VIDEO: How the Stops on Moscovian Street Disappeared - City Hall's Decision
Starting from August 31, traffic on Isaakyan and Moscovian streets, from Nalbandyan street to Mashtots Avenue, and on Isaakyan Street towards Mashtots Avenue, as well as on Moscovian Street from Mashtots Avenue to Nalbandyan Street has been made one-way. This decision by the Yerevan City Hall, aimed at alleviating traffic congestion, has created problems particularly for residents on Moscovian and surrounding streets, as well as citizens using establishments in that area.
Specifically, vehicle and public transport flow on Moscovian Street is now directed solely towards the Youth Metro station. For inexplicable reasons, the dedicated section for public transport is located on the left side of the street. Consequently, disembarking passengers from public transport on Moscovian Street has become impossible. The City Hall has addressed this issue by perhaps the simplest method—by removing the bus stops located in front of the State Choreography Theater on Moscovian Street. Now, public transport goes directly from the stop near the Conservatory to the stop located near the Youth Metro station.
This transportation solution from the Yerevan City Hall has complicated the movement of citizens who have been deprived of bus stops. Auroranews is awaiting clarification from the Yerevan City Hall regarding this issue. In Armenia, where traffic is right-sided, allocating a driving lane for transport on the left side of the street seems unclear and somewhat illogical.
