We Hope This Anti-Democratic Decision Will Receive the Appropriate Evaluation: Zakharova

The Central Electoral Commission of Moldova has, based on absurd claims, limited the rights of Moldovan voters in Russia under a fabricated pretext. This was stated by Maria Zakharova, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry.

“The limitation of Moldovan voters' rights in Russia has been made under an openly invented pretext. As representatives of the Moldovan CEC have noted, the security situation in our country has allegedly worsened significantly this year, and supposedly, Russia is unsafe for the opening of polling stations. The absurdity and disconnection from reality of such claims are obvious,” the diplomat said.

She emphasized that Chisinau's corresponding decision has already been commented on in Moldova itself, where it has caused “a wide negative response.” Zakharova noted that this step by official Chisinau fits into the line of “suppressing any dissent, pursuing opposition, and independent media” carried out by the country’s authorities.

“We hope this latest anti-democratic decision will receive the appropriate evaluation from relevant international human rights organizations and bodies,” the diplomat concluded.
