Elina Avanesyan on Her Roots and Family from Artsakh
Elina Avanesyan, a representative of Armenia and tennis player, stated in response to journalists’ questions in Yerevan that she is from Nagorno-Karabakh and has difficulty communicating in Armenian. “My family is from Nagorno-Karabakh. Very often, my family speaks to me in Armenian at home, and I try to respond sometimes in Russian and sometimes in Armenian. I understand everything very well; I just am not sure that I can communicate in Armenian. Maybe next time I will be able to. I hope that with each meeting, I will speak a little better in Armenian,” Avanesyan declared.
It is noteworthy that Elina has risen to the 49th position in the Women's Tennis Association (WTA) rankings.
