Biden Issues Statement Following Trump Assassination Attempt
There is no place for political violence in the United States, and the entire nation must condemn the assassination attempt against former President Donald Trump. This was stated by the current leader of the country, Joe Biden, according to a quote from the White House press office. He mentioned being informed about the gunshots and expressed relief that Trump is safe.
“Jill and I are grateful to the Secret Service for saving him. There is no room for this kind of violence in America. We must come together as one nation to condemn this,” said the U.S. President.
The statement was also supported by Vice President Kamala Harris, who condemned political violence and expressed gratitude to the members of the Secret Service.
The assassination attempt on the American president has also been condemned by EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell, leaders of the Republican and Democratic parties in the Senate, as well as other politicians.
It is noteworthy that the assassination attempt took place in Pennsylvania during a meeting with supporters. Trump was shot in the ear, and footage from the scene shows blood running down his cheek.
Trump's press secretary, Stephen Chung, reported that the former president is doing well and is being examined in the hospital. The regional prosecutor's office announced that two people were killed, one of whom was the shooter.
