VIDEO: Commander of 'Akhamat' Refuses to Free Chechens Captured in Kursk
The commander of the 'Akhamat' special forces has refused to negotiate the release of Chechen fighters captured by Ukrainian forces in Kursk, advising them instead to choose death.
Abti Alaudinov, who leads Chechnya's 'Akhamat' special operations unit and serves as deputy head of the Russian Armed Forces' main military-political department, made statements today that have generated considerable response in Russian media.
It is important to note that Alaudinov and his subordinates are currently stationed in the Kursk region, where on August 6, Ukrainian Armed Forces launched an incursion, capturing a significant number of prisoners (including individuals from Chechnya, according to reports). As part of several exchange phases, military personnel captured in Kursk (primarily conscripts) are being returned to Russia.
However, the Chechen commander stated he has no intention of negotiating the release of Ukrainian soldiers in exchange for voluntarily surrendered Chechens. Alaudinov recorded a video and mentioned that relatives of the captured individuals have approached him, requesting assistance in securing their release.
“Historically, Chechens considered surrender to be the greatest shame,” he responded to these requests. “I believe you are unworthy of living at all. I’m amazed at how you will live after raising your hands and surrendering like little girls,” Alaudinov added.
