Yerevan State University Becomes a 'Prahadnoy Dvor' for Government Officials' Self-Establishment: 168.am
168.am reports that an employee of Yerevan State University (YSU) has provided photographs showing how the Armenian Prosecutor General Anna Vardapetyan's motorcade is parked in front of the central building of the university so that the Prosecutor General can enter the Law Faculty to deliver a lecture.
According to our sources, this has become a common occurrence for all young members of the Civil Contract party, who seem to have a psychological complex towards the university.
Recently, Deputy Foreign Minister Vahan Kostanyan also entered the university parking lot in his car, where he was greeted by the party-affiliated rector, Hovhannes Hovhannisyan.
Kostanyan is the same individual who, before and immediately after the 2018 power takeover, was a member of the 'Restart' initiative that was dodging military service. Days after Nikol Pashinyan came to power, he was literally bowing at the feet of the then-rector, the late academic Aram Simonian.
In general, the collective attitude of the Civil Contract party towards YSU aims to fundamentally undermine its standing, seemingly avenging their years of unfulfilled ambitions. This is why the rector of YSU is Hovhannes Hovhannisyan from the Civil Contract party, and the council chairman is Suren Papikyan, also affiliated with the party. Civil Contract officials have turned the university courtyard into a 'prahadnoy dvor' (a makeshift court for staging events).
Interestingly, before the 2018 power takeover, access to YSU's courtyard was primarily reserved for vehicles serving the President of Armenia and the Catholicos of All Armenians, who did not always take advantage of this privilege. Unlike Hovhannisyan, who rushes to greet every minor, intermediate, and major party official, Aram Simonian only welcomed the President of Armenia and the Supreme Patriarch at the building. All Prime Ministers and Ministers would go up to Aram Simonian’s office by themselves, which was done specifically to emphasize YSU's special status.
