More People Have Died from Explosions in Armenia in 8 Months than in All of 2023
In the Republic of Armenia, there have been 34 recorded explosions in the first 8 months of 2024, resulting in 9 fatalities. Arthur Vardanyan, the operational shift supervisor at the National Crisis Management Center of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, remarked on this during a press conference, addressing the risks of burns in household conditions and the preventive measures being taken.
“As of 2023, we had 42 cases of explosions at the National Crisis Management Center, which led to 6 deaths and 53 injuries. By August 31, 2024, 34 explosions have already been recorded, causing 9 deaths and 39 injuries. Of the explosions in 2023, 30 were due to gas, while in the current year, there have been 29. We can say that in almost all cases, safety rules are not being followed,” Vardanyan noted.
According to him, most explosions occur in homes because residents do not adhere to certain household safety rules, leading to gas leaks.
