How Much Money Has Been Collected from 'Red Line' Payments

From January 1 to August 30, the total amount collected for parking in Zone A in Yerevan reached 1 billion 145 million 432.7 thousand drams, while for Zone B, it amounted to 393 million 823.4 thousand drams. This was reported by the Yerevan Municipality in response to a written inquiry from “Factinfo.”

Recall that as of January 1, a new system of parking fees and rates came into effect, according to which the annual fee for Zone A is set at 160,000 drams, while for Zone B it is 24,000 drams. The municipality also disclosed that around 545 million drams have been paid according to the annual rate for parking in Zone A, and approximately 102 million drams for Zone B.

It turns out that more than 3,406 citizens have paid the annual fee of 160,000 drams for Zone A, and 4,250 citizens have paid for Zone B. Notably, in 2022, the city budget received 680 million drams from the 'red line' payments, in 2023 it increased to 960 million drams, and this year it has already reached 1.5 billion drams.

It is significant that the municipality justified the increase in fees by stating it was also aimed at alleviating traffic in the downtown area; however, congestion continues to plague the city.
