Champion Boxer Khoren Injyan Passes Away at 67

The Ministry of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports of Armenia has announced with deep sorrow that Khoren Injyan, the heavyweight champion of the USSR, has passed away at the age of 67. This information was provided by the Ministry itself.

Khoren Injyan was born on July 11, 1957, in Yerevan. He achieved significant success in his sports career in 1979. In May of that year, he competed as part of the USSR national team at the European Championship, where he reached the semifinals and won a bronze medal. That year, he also triumphed at the USSR Championship and earned a gold medal at the VII Spartakiad of the USSR.

In the same year, he participated in the inaugural World Cup in the USA, reaching the finals, where he was defeated by the renowned American boxer Tony Tabs, securing a silver medal.

Since 1990, he lived in Los Angeles, USA, and from 1995 to 1997, he competed in the professional ring.
