The U.S. Accuses Iran, New Sanctions Against Tehran to Be Imposed

The United States has officially accused Iran of supplying Russia with short-range ballistic missiles for its war in Ukraine, announcing that appropriate measures will be taken to punish those involved. This was stated by U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken during a joint press conference with British Foreign Secretary David Lammy, as reported by apnews.com.

According to Blinken, the United States will announce new sanctions against Iran on Tuesday due to its cooperation with Russia. "Russia has received the ballistic missiles and is likely to use them in Ukraine against Ukrainians within a few weeks," Blinken said.

He specified that sanctions would also be imposed against Iran Air. "We will announce new sanctions against Iran, including Iran Air, later today," he said.

Earlier, CNN and The Wall Street Journal, citing anonymous sources, reported that Iran had provided short-range ballistic missiles to Russia. The Times, citing Ukrainian intelligence, stated that this involved approximately 200 ballistic missiles with a range of up to 110 kilometers. Iran has officially denied these reports. Iran's permanent mission to the UN noted that Tehran does not supply weapons to the conflicting parties in Ukraine, as it considers such actions inhumane.
