Residents Block Artashat-Yerevan Highway
There is a protest in the Yerevan suburb of Kasakh. Residents have blocked the Artashat-Yerevan highway.
As a reminder, the newspaper 'Zhoghovurd' reported, 'Today, the residents of Kasakh village are set to block the Artashat-Yerevan road. They are raising an alarm, indicating that they will no longer remain silent, and that the actions of the head of the Nairi community, Norair Sargsyan, against citizens' rights have already crossed the line.'
The issue is that the head of the Nairi community decided during yesterday's council meeting to annul a decision that would have excluded the right to construction permits for land plots allocated for village purposes. In other words, if residents wish to build a house on their own land, the community head must individually consider the issues, and with a council decision, permission may or may not be granted to build. This means that people will fall into unnecessary squabbles, which is why they are blocking the road and demanding a boycott of the council meeting, not allowing the community head to violate their rights.
