Arushanyan: It Is Unethical for Me to Step Back to Avoid Arrest

I am ready for any scenario, I am ready for arrest, I am fighting for our justice. This was stated by Arush Arushanyan, the head of the Goris community, during a conversation with journalists before the court session.

“The election topic is removed, this pertains to any political function,” said Arushanyan in response to a journalist's question about whether the actions being taken against him have a political subtext.

“The decision was made in 2022. The lawyers have appealed. The appeal was not upheld. There are also principled approaches here. If the people chose me while I was under arrest, it is unethical to sign or step back when there is no such requirement by law. The probation service has sent nothing to me; it has sent [information] to the council, and the council does not have the authority. For me, it is unethical to step back to avoid arrest,” emphasized Arushanyan.

It is noteworthy that the probation service had approached the Goris community council, informing them that the community leader should be dismissed. The 14 members present at the council meeting unanimously recorded that the requirement of the letter exceeds the functions of the council, and there is a situation of impossibility for the council to organize this process.
