We Continue to Bear Responsibility for the Fate of Artsakh Armenians: Artsakh National Assembly

The Acting Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Artsakh, Gagik Bagunts, has issued a statement in response to the remarks made by the President of the National Assembly of Armenia, Alen Simonian, regarding the dissolution of the inter-parliamentary commission format. He quoted Mark Twain, saying, "The reports of my (Artsakh National Assembly) death are greatly exaggerated."

In relation to the activities of the National Assembly of the Republic of Artsakh following the ethnic cleansing that occurred in September 2023, I would like to emphasize that the officials of the National Assembly of the Republic of Artsakh (the deputies), having received the mandate from the people of Artsakh, continue for a five-year term to bear responsibility for the fate of the Armenians of Artsakh in the current situation and are making every effort to ensure their collective return to their homeland under security guarantees.

PS 1. Regarding the dissolution of the inter-parliamentary commission format, there are established mechanisms for that process.

PS 2. Incidentally, the work and relations of the inter-parliamentary and friendly groups of the National Assembly of Artsakh continue with parliamentarians and groups from France, Cyprus, Greece, Belgium, and other countries.
