Only 75 Thousand People: Avinyan Expresses Discontent with Passenger Payment System
During a regular operational meeting at the Yerevan City Hall on September 9, Mayor Tigran Avinyan suggested implementing a distinction between the token system and the unified ticketing system for public transport starting next week.
A representative from the metro responded, noting that it could already be presented in this manner. According to him, from September 2 to 8, the number of passengers in the metro reached 575,464, with 74,882 passengers paying via Telcell. The performance rate stood at 105.8%.
Avinyan emphasized that a similar distinction should also be made for buses and trolleybuses. It was mentioned that over the week, a total of 3,533,679 passengers utilized transport in Yerevan, with 75,122 paying through Telcell. The mayor remarked that this constitutes a small percentage.
