Fly Arna Stripped of Aircraft Operating Certificate

Fly Arna Stripped of Aircraft Operating Certificate

The Armenian airline Fly Arna, which has been facing challenges since the end of last year, has officially lost its crucial document for conducting commercial operations—the aircraft operating certificate (AOC). This information comes from the website of the Civil Aviation Committee (CAC). According to Hetq, the CAC suspended the airline's AOC for six months on March 7 of this year due to the absence of an aircraft.

According to Armenian legislation, an airline holding an AOC must either own or lease at least one aircraft, or at least have a memorandum regarding aircraft leasing; otherwise, its AOC will be suspended for a maximum of six months, during which the carrier must take steps to meet the legislative requirements. Failure to comply will result in the certificate being declared invalid.

The airline received its AOC on May 5, 2022, and commenced commercial flights on July 3 of the same year. The last flight took place on January 16 of this year, after which Fly Arna's sole aircraft was grounded at Zvartnots International Airport. The aircraft was transferred to Sharjah on February 26 and was deregistered from the Armenian registry on March 6, leading to the suspension of the airline's AOC by the CAC.
