VIDEO: Suspect in Police Officer's Murder Identified

The 41-year-old Manuk Margaryan, suspected of the murder and attempted murder of a police officer, has been located in the Nalbandyan community of the Armavir region. This information was provided by the spokesperson for the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Narek Sargsyan.

“He has been arrested and brought to the Investigative Committee. The firearm used in the crime has been found,” Sargsyan noted.

It is reminded that shots were fired on September 7 in the Armavir region, resulting in the death of Captain Hayrapet Stepanyan, an operative from the Criminal Investigation Department of the Armavir division of the National Police. Lieutenant Arthur Ayvazyan, a community police officer from the same department, sustained a gunshot wound.

Additionally, it should be noted that gunshots were fired in a manner dangerous to others towards police officers performing their official duties in the Nalbandyan settlement of the Armavir region. This incident led to the murder of one police officer and the attempted murder of another. A criminal case has been initiated by the Armavir regional investigative department of the Republic of Armenia's Investigative Committee under Article 155, Part 2, Points 1 and 7, and Article 335, Part 1 of the RA Criminal Code.

An investigative group has been formed, and immediate investigative and other procedural actions are being conducted to clarify the full circumstances of the incident. The crime scene has been examined, and forensic medical examinations have been appointed.

The Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia will provide further information on the ongoing results of the investigation.
