Russia Discusses Measures for Migrant Children in the Country
Migrant children receiving education in Russian schools should be gradually required to learn Russian. This statement was made by Dmitry Medvedev, the Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of Russia, during a conversation with personnel from the TASS news agency.
“And gradually, without violence, they should be compelled to learn the language,” the politician stated. Medvedev emphasized that a concerning situation arises when three-quarters of students in some classes, particularly first graders, do not speak Russian.
The Deputy Chairman of the Security Council highlighted the necessity of teaching the Russian language to migrant children. Medvedev also proposed that migrants should be prohibited from bringing their families to Russia if they are only coming for seasonal work. He further underscored that restrictions on the residence of migrants should apply to migrant families and enclaves.
Previously, the Deputy Chairman of the Security Council had stated that migrants in Russia should live according to Russian rules and laws. They need to feel part of Russia, know its history, and master the Russian language.
