Musk Agrees to Head Audit of U.S. Government Under Trump
Elon Musk, the head of the American company Tesla, has agreed to lead a commission on government efficiency in the United States, which Donald Trump promises to create if elected president.
This announcement was made by Trump himself during a speech at the Economic Club of New York on Thursday.
The commission will conduct a comprehensive audit of the federal government's operations and finances and will make recommendations for "fundamental changes," he stated.
The goal of the commission will be to develop a plan to eliminate fraud and improper payments, which cost American taxpayers "hundreds of billions of dollars" just in 2022.
Prior to Trump's speech, The Wall Street Journal published excerpts from the speech text. Musk commented on this publication on the X social media platform: "I am ready to serve America if the opportunity arises... Awards, titles, and recognition are not needed," he wrote.
