83 Hot Dogs in 10 Minutes: New World Record Set

American Joey Chestnut set a record by consuming 83 hot dogs during a special Netflix event dedicated to Labor Day, surpassing his Japanese competitor Takeru Kobayashi, according to UPI.

The contestants were given 10 minutes during the special event held on Monday to eat as many hot dogs as possible. Chestnut not only exceeded Kobayashi's count of 67 hot dogs but also broke his own world record set in 2021, where he consumed 76 hot dogs in 10 minutes.

The 40-year-old Chestnut and 46-year-old Kobayashi are two of the most famous and title-holding eating enthusiasts, having competed against each other for the title of best hot dog eater at the annual Nathan's competition.

According to Netflix, the event marked the first time in 15 years that the two title-holding eaters faced off against each other.
