Russian Ambassador Summoned by Iran's Foreign Ministry

Iran’s Assistant Foreign Minister and Director General for Eurasian Affairs have announced Tehran's support for regional peace and stability and expressed opposition to any changes to internationally recognized borders and the geopolitical status quo, according to IRNA.

On Monday evening, a meeting in Tehran with Russian Ambassador Alexey Dedov underscored the necessity of paying attention to the interests and legitimate concerns of all countries in the region, as stated by the spokesperson for the Foreign Policy Group, Mojtaba Demirchilu.

During their exchange of views on the events unfolding in the Caucasus, the two diplomats emphasized respect for national sovereignty, territorial integrity, and mutual interests among countries, which they believe are the guarantees of sustainable peace and regional cooperation.

Demirchilu and Dedov also highlighted the need to utilize the potential of countries in the region to resolve issues and contribute to the strengthening of peace and stability, as well as the implementation of economic projects, taking into account the interests of all parties.

The upcoming meeting in the 3+3 consultative format was also discussed, which includes the three South Caucasian countries – Armenia, Georgia, and Azerbaijan – along with Russia, Turkey, and Iran. This format addresses issues related to the unblocking of security, economic, and transport connections in the region.

It is worth noting that reports in the media have suggested that Iran's Foreign Ministry summoned the Russian ambassador to a meeting following Moscow's recent support for a corridor connecting Baku and Nakhchivan through Armenian territory.
