More Than 200 People Seek Medical Assistance Due to Gastrointestinal Infection in Russia

In Kabardino-Balkaria, over 200 people have sought medical assistance due to a gastrointestinal infection, with 63 individuals hospitalized, including 56 children, reports RIA Novosti citing the republic's prosecutor's office.

The region's health ministry previously announced that following an outbreak of acute gastrointestinal infection in the city of Baksanen, 70 people were hospitalized.

"It has been confirmed that a total of 212 people requested medical assistance, of whom 63 were hospitalized, including 56 children. The condition of the children is assessed as moderate. Two schools, two kindergartens, and one college have temporarily suspended operations," the report states.

The causes of the infection remain unknown. Water utility workers have begun hyperchlorinating the water supplied to residential areas.
