A Group of Azerbaijani Citizens Held in Handcuffs at Moscow Airport
Information is circulating in the Azerbaijani segment of social networks that a group of Azerbaijani citizens are being held in handcuffs at Moscow's Domodedovo Airport. Azerbaijani media reports that 21 citizens, who are subject to deportation, have been detained at the airport since yesterday. They claim that these individuals are not being provided with food or water, are not allowed to use the restroom, and that Russian law enforcement officers are verbally abusing and electro-shocking those who express discontent.
The Azerbaijani embassy in Russia has stated that Consul Ramin Selimkhanov went to the airport immediately after learning about the situation to clarify the circumstances on the ground. It was discovered that of the 21 deportees, only four are Azerbaijani citizens and are subject to deportation for violating Russian migration laws. According to current Russian legislation, those awaiting deportation are required to be kept in handcuffs in public places.
The Azerbaijani citizens are provided with everything they need and are awaiting their next flight to Baku.
