Yerevan Believes It Should Be Done Directly with Azerbaijan, If Successful, For God’s Sake - Lavrov

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia, Sergey Lavrov, stated that if the authorities in Armenia wish to conduct direct negotiations with Azerbaijan without Russia's participation to resolve the crisis in Nagorno-Karabakh, then "for God’s sake," TASS reports.

"In the same way, we are now concerned that the trilateral agreements signed during several summits involving Russia, Armenia, and Azerbaijan from 2020 to 2022 have also fallen apart. I mentioned the resumption of transport links and also noted the trilateral commission that was dealing with it, but it is practically no longer meeting. Yerevan believes it should be done directly with Azerbaijan, well, if it succeeds, for God’s sake," the head of Russian diplomacy said.

Lavrov also pointed out that regarding the delimitation of the state border, the Russian Federation needs to consult with the participants of this process, but this is not happening. "No, they do not want to, and at the same time, they constantly strive to involve the West, the USA, the European Union, Paris, and secure their sponsorship in any process. This is their choice, but they must negotiate primarily with their Azerbaijani neighbors. There is no other way," the Russian Foreign Minister added.

Meanwhile, according to the minister, "despite all the differences and contradictions," Russia and its partners "understand who stands behind what, and there is a desire, and there is already a result regarding the convergence of our approaches related to the development of agreed parallel processes that will ultimately be positive."
