Photos: Yerevan Municipality Presents Options for the Cascade Complex

The Cascade Complex, located in the heart of Yerevan, serves as one of the city's cultural and tourist hubs. It holds significant importance as a social center of the city, offering a space for meetings, walks, and events.

Yerevan Municipality is interested in finding out how people would like to see the Cascade Complex as it makes decisions about its future. “Dear Yerevan residents, we are curious about how you would like to see the Cascade Complex. We present you with two options, the descriptions of which you can view here,” stated the Yerevan Municipality.

Cascade Gardens
The current Cascade Complex's project concept is based on the combination of stone, water, and greenery, which has been preserved in the proposed modern art museum's concept. The outdoor platforms of the museum will offer viewpoints where spectacular views of Yerevan city, Mount Ararat, the Mother Armenia statue, and the 50th Anniversary of the October Revolution monument will open up.

The museum's design also includes restaurants, new cultural venues for art, music, and cinema, open-air auditoriums, and many other public spaces. The pathways through the museum will connect to Armenia's significant symbols, immersing visitors in the symbolic elements of the surrounding landscape, incorporating Armenia's history into the complex's experience.

Cascade Cultural Hub
The “New Cascade” project presents a unique structure composed of tectonic plates, towering above the current Cascade. The series of terraces built horizontally seems to play with horizontal lines above the Cascade, integrating the surrounding neighborhoods and adding new volumes to the urban landscape.

The project plans extensive restoration of the forests surrounding the complex, which will contribute to ecological sustainability through the expansion of green areas. The “New Cascade” project consists of public passages filled with terraces, cafes, and restaurants, creating a lively atmosphere. In the central section, a concert and music hall with 1,000 seats is planned.

One of the project's highlights is a new center for contemporary art, featuring expansive terraces overlooking the city, which will open up broad opportunities for artistic and cultural exchange.
