The missing Mi-8 has been found in Kamchatka, as reported by Sergey Lebedev, the Minister of Emergency Situations of the Kamchatka Territory.
"The missing aircraft has been located, and preliminary data suggests that it has crashed," Lebedev stated.
The regional emergency department has reported that "debris of the previously missing helicopter has been spotted from the air, located at an altitude of 900 meters near the last known contact point." There is no official information regarding the death of passengers and crew.
Earlier, a criminal case was initiated by the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation's Eastern Transport Investigation Department regarding the loss of contact with the Mi-8 helicopter under Article 263 of the Russian Criminal Code, which addresses violations of traffic safety rules and the operation of air transport.
On August 31, the Mi-8 helicopter, which was flying to the village of Nikolaevka in the Elizovsky district from a landing site in the Vachkazhets mountain range, failed to arrive at its destination. Contact with the aircraft's crew could not be established.
Preliminary information indicates that there could have been 19 passengers and three crew members on board the aircraft.
