Iran's President Masoud Pezeshkian will participate in the BRICS 2024 summit in Russia this October, as reported by Tasnim. The first BRICS summit following the organization’s expansion will take place in Kazan from October 22 to 24.

Pezeshkian's attendance is also confirmed through an official invitation from the Kremlin. In Kazan, Iran's Consul Davood Mirzakhani met with an assistant to the President of Tatarstan to discuss the arrangements for the BRICS summit.

This year, Russia is holding the presidency in BRICS. Iran, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, and Ethiopia have joined as the five new members of the organization. Azerbaijan has also filed a request to join BRICS later on.

BRICS was established in 2006, originally comprising Brazil, Russia, India, and China. South Africa joined the organization in 2011.
