Israel Faces Threat of War on Multiple Fronts, Says Gallant
Israel is threatened with the possibility of waging war on multiple fronts if a deal regarding hostages is not reached. This was stated by Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant.
From a military leadership perspective, the conclusion of a deal would not only facilitate the return of hostages but could also reduce tensions along the border with Lebanon, where clashes are occurring with the Shiite movement Hezbollah. At the same time, the document notes that failure to secure a deal could create a threat of “rapid deterioration of the situation,” potentially leading to “war on multiple fronts.”
The document has been presented to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and a select group of senior officials. It indicates that Israel is at a “strategic crossroads” and must make a decision.
