VIDEO: Citizens Should Buy 8000 Dram Paint, Neighbors Should Paint the Fences, Says Prime Minister
The Prime Minister of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan, is dissatisfied with the maintenance of the exterior appearance of schools and public buildings. He made this statement during a government session.
According to him, all buildings should be colorful, but a few years after their grand opening, beautiful appearances are lost, and even seismic stability issues arise. “Everything needs to be refreshed. This is a crucial part of maintenance. For example, the fence of a school should not be rusty. If it is not painted for a few years, it will become rusty. Hundreds of school fences are rusty today. We pass by and say, ‘Yes, what’s up,’ but a citizen’s fence should not be rusty either, because it reflects the attitude towards the external environment and the locality,” Pashinyan stated.
He recounted that during a review of a subsidized project in Ijevan, they noticed that the fences next to a government-renovated road were in poor condition. “If the government is investing 800 million or 1 billion for renovations, I think a citizen should also make an investment of 8000 dram, buy paint, and decide with neighbors or the community to paint the fences on this street with this material and this color,” the Prime Minister emphasized.
