Government to Sell Vehicle Serving Samvel Shahramanyan via Electronic Auction
The vehicle serving Samvel Shahramanyan is set to be sold by the Armenian government through an electronic auction. This was stated by lawyer Roman Yeritsyan in an interview with ArmLur.
“We have appealed against the seizure. The prosecutor has replied that no matter how justified our appeal is, and no matter how correct we are, they cannot give an order to return the vehicle because it was seized by another investigator who came from his investigator. This is practically an unprecedented case that is actually absurd,” Yeritsyan said.
He stated that he received the seizure decision from the investigator. It noted that a criminal case had been initiated regarding the fact that the vehicle serving the president was transferred from Stepanakert to Yerevan, and the officials of the Republic of Artsakh, bearing the obligation to return this vehicle to the government of the Republic of Armenia, have not done so and have continued to use it. “There is no legal basis for this demand. This is neither a vehicle of the Ministry of Defense nor one acquired with the funds of the Republic of Armenia,” he emphasized.
“I have contacted the president of Artsakh and learned that several months ago, the president indicated to the government of Armenia, listing the state license plates of all vehicles belonging to Artsakh, which vehicles had been transferred to Armenia and suggested discussing the fate of those vehicles. No one has responded to that letter,” he added.
The lawyer also mentioned that the government is preparing to auction Shahramanyan's vehicle. “As a result of legal activities and in the context of certain inquiries, I am also learning that the Armenian government plans to sell all seized vehicles via electronic auction. A criminal case has been initiated, but no charges have been brought against anyone; they are preparing to sell them via electronic auction,” he added.
It should be noted that on June 21, special forces of the Ministry of Internal Affairs broke the iron gate of the Artsakh Republic's representative office in Yerevan, invaded the premises, and seized the vehicle serving Samvel Shahramanyan, the last president of Artsakh.
