A Turkish Drone Shot Down in Iraq
The Iraqi air defense forces have downed a Turkish unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) in the skies above Kirkuk, the administrative center of the eponymous province in northern Iraq. This was reported by the Shafaq News news platform.
According to a source in the region's security forces, the Turkish drone entered Iraqi airspace from the neighboring Sulaymaniyah province. As soon as the drone entered the engagement zone, it was hit by Iraqi military forces. The device was detected in the morning. There are no reported casualties from the incident.
The Iraqi security forces have dismantled the missile found at the drone's impact site. According to a police source, the incident occurred in a densely populated area and could have had much more catastrophic consequences had it exploded.
It is noteworthy that the Turkish side has not yet commented on the information.
