Armenia Transfers 5 Iranian Prisoners to Iran
Five Iranian citizens who were imprisoned in Armenia have been released from custody and handed over to the Islamic Republic of Iran. This marks the 15th repatriation of Iranian prisoners from the neighboring country, according to IRNA.
Askar Jalalian, the Deputy for Human Rights and International Affairs of the Ministry of Justice, announced on Wednesday that the Iranian citizens were released following the implementation of an agreement between the two countries concerning the transfer of convicted individuals.
With the support of the Armenian government and coordinated by the Iranian embassy in Armenia, the five prisoners were officially handed over at Yerevan’s airport on Wednesday afternoon. This is the third group of Iranian prisoners to return to Iran in the past year.
