30 Applications from Families Displaced from Artsakh Approved Under Housing Support Program

As of August 26, around 30 applications from families forcibly displaced from Nagorno-Karabakh have been approved by the state housing support program, out of 594 applications submitted (covering 1967 individuals). They have already received their certificates. This was reported in response to a written inquiry from Sputnik Armenia by the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs of Armenia.

Previously, it was announced that during the meeting on May 16, the Armenian government approved the "State Support Program for Housing Provision of Families Displaced from Nagorno-Karabakh and the List of Specific Settlements in Armenia". The acceptance of electronic applications from beneficiaries was launched on June 15, 2024.

Media outlets also inquired which specific localities in the program have garnered the most interest from the beneficiaries. The Ministry stated that it is impossible to obtain statistics regarding preferred localities during the certification process. "This information will be available after the issuance of the certificates, as beneficiaries' preferences may change before making a final decision," the response from the ministry noted.

It should be emphasized that to become a beneficiary of the housing support program for those displaced from Nagorno-Karabakh, residents must acquire Armenian citizenship, and the number of those who have received citizenship so far does not exceed 2000. According to the program approved by the Armenian government, potential beneficiaries are initially estimated to be 25,000 families. The final figure will be adjusted during the implementation of the program based on the number of applications received.

To become a beneficiary of the program, residents from Artsakh need to submit an application, after which a housing purchase certificate will be issued to the beneficiary family for each individual, amounting to 3-5 million drams, depending on the market value of the property in the area where the apartment or house is located.
