Dangerous Pesticide Found in Strawberries Exported from Armenia to Russia
A dangerous pesticide banned in many countries has been detected in 4 tons of strawberries exported from Armenia to Russia, reports Mash.
The berries were intended for sale in Moscow, the Moscow region, and the Tula district.
The batch dated August 21 contained tebukonazole at a level of 0.152 mg/kg, a substance known to disrupt the human endocrine system. A similar product from August 16 showed an excess of the pesticide bupirimate (0.690 mg/kg).
Previously, Rosselkhoznadzor had lifted a temporary ban on one of the 16 companies exporting from Armenia to Russia.
The State Food Safety Inspection Body of Armenia informed Auroranews that they have not received any official notification from the Russian Federation regarding the presence of harmful substances in the products.
After receiving this information, the inspection authority assured that they will respond appropriately.
