Israeli Hostage Released in Gaza After 10 Months Held Underground
In a joint operation by the Israel Defense Forces and the country’s General Security Service, another Israeli hostage has been released in Gaza today. According to Israeli sources, he is Kaid Farhan Alqadi, a resident of the southern village of Rahat inhabited by Bedouins.
Members of Hamas (designated as a terrorist organization by the US and EU) kidnapped him on October 7 of last year while he was on his way to work in one of the Jewish settlements near the Gaza border.
The condition of the rescued citizen has been assessed as stable, and he has been transferred to a hospital for further examination.
According to the Israeli army, the hostage had been held in one of the underground tunnels in southern Gaza for the past 10 months.
Currently, local sources indicate that there are around seventy Israeli hostages remaining in Gaza. On October 7, 2023, Israel was subjected to an unprecedented large-scale rocket attack from Gaza. Following that, militants from the Palestinian Hamas movement infiltrated border areas, opening fire on military personnel and civilians, taking more than 200 hostages. According to government data, around 1,200 people have been killed.
