Minsk Did Not Receive Kiev's Request to Withdraw Troops from Ukraine's Border: Belarusian Foreign Ministry

Ukraine has not officially approached the Belarusian authorities with a request to withdraw its troops from the border, stated Anatoly Glaz, spokesperson for the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. His comments were published on the ministry's website.

“Officially, we have not received such calls from the Ukrainian side; we have only seen this message online. The logic behind such statements, in our view, is very complex,” Glaz said.

“It turns out that Ukrainian leadership is operating combat drones over Belarusian territory, and a week later, they are surprised by the actions of our armed forces, which are fulfilling tasks to ensure the security of the area. In our understanding, everything here is logical, especially considering the constant provocations from the Ukrainian side, the deployment of over 100,000 troops, and the transfer of terrorists to Belarus…” he noted.

“We do not know what logic the Ukrainian side is following; perhaps there is some cunning game involved for internal consumption or to receive applause from the West,” added the Belarusian Foreign Ministry representative.

Earlier, Ukraine's Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed concern regarding the recent deployment of Belarusian military forces near its southern borders and requested to withdraw “the troops from a distance from which the Belarusian army can fire.”

“In case of border violations and any attacks, Ukraine is ready to exercise its right to self-defense,” officials in Kyiv stated.
