The Regulatory Authority Begins Inspection at Kapan Mining Factory

The RA Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources has initiated an inspection at the Kapan Mining and Processing Plant concerning issues raised by 'Hetq'. In June, it was reported that, according to local residents, the Kapan Mining Plant had begun open-pit mining operations at the Shahumyan deposit. The mine should be exploited through underground methods according to existing permits. However, the company denied the information regarding the open-pit mining, later issuing a clarification.

It was also reported that following the publication, the regulatory authority intended to conduct an inspection at the factory, but the timeframe for the inspection was not publicized. A source from 'Hetq' reported that the inspection has already started, which was also confirmed by the regulatory authority in response to inquiries. When asked when the inspection would conclude, the oversight body stated that it is ongoing and results will be disclosed after completion and summarization.
