Floods in India and Bangladesh: Death Toll Reaches 30

Floods have caused significant damage in northeastern India and neighboring eastern Bangladesh, resulting in a total death toll of 30 over the past weeks, local authorities report, according to media sources.

On Friday, rainfall ceased in many regions of Bangladesh, and meteorologists in Dhaka noted that water levels have begun to recede in some areas; however, flooding is expected to persist for several more days.

In India's Tripura state, eight more people died in the past 24 hours, bringing the death toll to 19 since Monday, as reported by AP, citing representatives from the disaster management authority.

Additionally, in Bangladesh, another seven fatalities were reported in the last day, according to Khon TV.

The BRAC non-governmental organization in Bangladesh has stated that around 3 million people are facing dire conditions as swift waterflows have inundated vast agricultural lands, destroying livelihoods, homes, and crops. Many have been left without electricity, food, or water.
