Death of School Principal's Father Causes Disturbance and Discontent Among Parents
The newspaper "Hraparak" reports that the death of Suzanna Galstyan's father, the principal of Yerevan's Stepan Zoryan Secondary School No. 56, has stirred unrest among the school's staff and parents. Teachers and class leaders were instructed to organize a fundraising campaign to collect funds for wreaths to be sent to the funeral of the principal's father. Some class leaders attempted to resist this directive, but faced condemnation, and fearing repercussions, they asked parents to participate in the fundraising for wreaths collectively.
Although the contributions were not large—ranging from 500 to 1000 drams—some parents expressed dissatisfaction. We contacted the deputy principal, Elena Voskanyan, who assured us that she did not initiate the fundraising; rather, it was a decision made by the teachers and parents.
