Iranian Ambassador Summoned to Germany Over Closure of German Language Institute

The Iranian police have closed the Das Deutsche Sprachinstitut Teheran (DSIT), a German language institute in Tehran, for violating the "laws of the country." Today, Iran's judicial authority's Mizan news agency reported on X that "two branches of illegal centers affiliated with the German government" were shut down for "a number of illegal activities and significant financial violations." The statement did not provide details on the specific violations.

The Iranian ambassador has been summoned by Germany's Foreign Ministry regarding the decision by Iranian authorities to close the German language teaching institute associated with the embassy in Tehran. "We condemn the actions of Iran's security forces against the German language teaching institute in Tehran. This cannot be justified in any way," stated Germany's Foreign Ministry.

"We call on the new Iranian government to immediately allow the resumption of teaching," declared the German Foreign Ministry.
