Approximately 500 children have been evacuated from health camps in the Tandinsky district of Tuva due to forest fires, announced the republic's head, Vladislav Khovalyg.

On August 17, regional authorities decided to restore the state of emergency in the forests. “Due to the forest fires in the Tandinsky district, we are relocating children from the Chagitai, Orlyonok, and Baylak camps. The work is being coordinated by partners from the social block on-site,” he stated on his Telegram channel.

In total, nearly 500 schoolchildren are resting in these camps and will be transported by buses to Kyzyl city. Children from other districts of Tuva will be temporarily accommodated in social institutions in Kyzyl.

According to the latest data from the regional dispatch service, 31 cases of forest fires have been recorded in the region, covering a total area of 2849 hectares of forest fund lands.
