Bridge Over Seim River in Kursk Collapses Due to Ukrainian Strike

The acting head of Russia's Kursk region, Alexey Smirnov, has reported that a road bridge over the Seim River has collapsed due to a strike by the Ukrainian armed forces. Regional security forces informed TASS that as a result, part of the Glushkovsky district has been 'cut off from land evacuation.'

'As a result of Ukraine's assault, a road bridge over the Seim River in the Glushkovsky district has been destroyed. I am currently in contact with local authorities. The operational headquarters is also continuing to work, and appropriate decisions will be published based on the results,' Alexey Smirnov wrote on his Telegram channel.

The frontier section of the Glushkovsky district in the Kursk region is connected to the rest of the region by two bridges over the Seim River. Smirnov did not specify which one has been destroyed. The acting governor's advisor, Roman Alyokhin, wrote on Telegram that the Ukrainian armed forces have destroyed one passage and are 'also attacking the bridge near Zvannoye village.'

Fighting with the Ukrainian armed forces in the Kursk region has been ongoing since August 6. A state of emergency has been declared federally in the area. As of August 12, Ukrainian armed forces control 28 localities, where approximately 2,000 people remain. More than 121,000 people have been evacuated.
