The US Appeals to Iran Through Partners

The United States administration has reached out to Iran directly and through partners, urging Tehran to refrain from attacking Israel and further escalating tensions in the Middle East. This was announced by John Kirby, the National Security Council's Coordinator for Strategic Communications, during a recent online press briefing for reporters.

Commenting on the possibility of an Iranian attack on Israel, he stated, “We have reached out to Iran through our partners who have direct diplomatic relations with Tehran. And, of course, we have our own ways of doing this through other means. We would like to prevent an Iranian attack.”

He emphasized that Iran’s rhetoric regarding an attack on Israel should be taken seriously, saying, “We know that Iran has made certain preparations. We believe that if they decide to attack, they could do so without warning, and it could happen very soon. We certainly would like to prevent such an outcome, so we are engaged and continue to engage in quite intensive diplomatic efforts to ensure the situation does not escalate.”
