25-Year-Old Son Kills 65-Year-Old Mother: Investigative Committee Provides Details

At 09:50 AM on August 15, 2024, the Emergency Medical Service of Yerevan reported the discovery of a body of a 65-year-old woman in an apartment on Bagratuniats Street, with a cut injury around her neck.

The Investigative Committee of Armenia has announced that a criminal case has been initiated in the Shengavit Investigation Division of the Yerevan Investigative Department based on Article 155, Part 1 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia. An investigative-operational group immediately went to the scene and took necessary investigative and procedural actions. An inspection of the crime scene was carried out during which a knife with blood-like traces was discovered.

External examination of the body revealed multiple sharp cut and stab wounds, as well as a cut wound to the neck. Around ten individuals have been interrogated, and the memory device of the surveillance camera at the building's entrance has been seized. A forensic medical examination has been ordered to determine the nature and mechanism of the bodily injuries sustained by the victim.

As a result of urgent investigative actions conducted by the investigators, preliminary data indicate that the individual suspected of committing the crime is the 25-year-old son of the 65-year-old woman. The preliminary investigation is ongoing. Measures are being taken to clarify the circumstances of the incident and ensure an objective and comprehensive investigation, particularly in locating the 25-year-old suspect. Relevant assignments have been given to the appropriate division of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
