North Korea to Reopen Borders for Foreign Tourists

North Korea will resume international tourism in December 2024 in the city of Samjiyon. This was reported by Reuters, citing tourism companies. "We have received confirmation from our local partner that tourism in Samjiyon and, likely, other regions of the country will officially resume in December 2024," the message states.

Media outlets refer to Samjiyon as a socialist utopia, where in recent years there has been active construction of housing, hotels, ski resorts, and various cultural and medical institutions.

Beijing's Koryo Tours company notes that the DPRK plans to open its borders after a four-year hiatus. Tourist routes and arrival dates will be ready in the near future.

Earlier, KP.RU reported that Russian students who were vacationing at a health camp in North Korea returned home. They spent 10 days at the 'Sondowon' international camp located along the eastern sea coast. A new group is being prepared for the next trip, with the second shift scheduled for August 19.
