7-Year-Old Drowns During 'Foam Party' at Baptism Ceremony

On August 12, a 7-year-old boy who was transferred from the "Vayots Dzor" medical center passed away at the "St. Astvatsamayr" medical center in Yerevan. This was reported by shamshyan.com.

According to the news outlet, the child was admitted to the medical center on August 10. The police department in Yeghegnadzor, under the Ministry of Internal Affairs, received operational information about a child being transported to the medical center in an unconscious state from one of the villages. Officers and patrols discovered that the boy had been transferred from a village in the Vayots Dzor region, diagnosed with "drowning," after swimming in a pool.

It was also clarified that on that day, a baptism ceremony was being celebrated for the child's sister in that village, during which a "foam party" event was organized at the pool adjacent to the private house. It was during this event that the child hit his head on the bottom of the pool while swimming, leading to drowning. He was transported in critical condition to the "Vayots Dzor" medical center, where he received initial medical assistance before being transferred by ambulance to the "St. Astvatsamayr" medical center.

The Vayots Dzor regional investigative department of the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia has initiated a criminal case regarding the incident. A forensic examination of the body has been ordered by the investigator.
