Turkey May Block Telegram
The Turkish authorities have warned of the possibility of blocking Telegram due to its use for the distribution of drugs, prostitution, gambling, and child pornography videos. This was reported by the Takvim newspaper, citing sources from law enforcement agencies.
The Technology and Communications Authority of Turkey has sent over 1,000 warnings to Telegram's headquarters, requesting the closure of channels used for illegal activities; however, no response has been received so far.
Turkey has approximately 8 million Telegram users. On August 2, access to the Instagram social network was blocked in Turkey for violating existing legislation. Access was restored on the evening of August 10 after an agreement was reached with Instagram to comply with the demands of the Turkish authorities.
