More Than 76,000 People Have Left Border Areas of Kursk Region, Says Russian EMERCOM

More than 76,000 people have left the border areas of the Kursk region, reported Artem Sharov, Deputy Director of the Information Policy Department of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations (EMERCOM), in a briefing. This information was shared by an RTVI correspondent.

"In total, more than 76,000 people have temporarily resettled to safe locations. Some individuals have stayed at the homes of relatives and friends. Others have the opportunity to be accommodated in temporary shelters," Sharov stated.

According to him, 60 temporary accommodation centers have been established for those leaving the border regions adjacent to Ukraine. As of August 10, more than 4,300 people were residing there.

More than one-third of the temporary accommodation sites (23) are located in the Kursk region, noted the EMERCOM representative.

To evacuate people from the border areas of Kursk, both road and rail transport are being utilized, Sharov mentioned.
